Catholic Social Service can help you plan for the birth of your child. You may wish to consider options such as:
- Parenting the child yourself
- Creating an adoption plan
- Asking friends or relatives to help
Birth fathers and prospective grandparents are also enthusiastically encouraged to take part in the development of a strategy to suit your needs.
Our goal for pregnancy counseling is to help women and men make the best decision for themselves and their baby. Pregnancy counseling addresses:
- Decision Making Skills
- Identifying Personal Values
- Clarifying Personal Needs
- Exploring Relationships
- Meeting the Child’s Best Interests
- Assessing Financial Situations
By learning about yourself and assessing your unique situation, you will be better able to determine whether to parent or make and adoption plan for your child. If you decide to parent your child, we will refer you to agencies which can help you prepare for parenting, including the Teen Moms Program at Catholic Social Service.
Our counselors can help you:
- Explore options and sort through feelings
- Talk with your family about your decision
- Access community resources that could help you
Adoption plan options
If you decide to create an adoption plan for your child, we are able to help with that process. Catholic Social Service is licensed by the State of Kansas Department of Health & Environment to provide infant foster care and adoption services for birth parents and adoptive parents.
Support for post-adoption services is also offered by Catholic Social Service. Our job does not end once a placement occurs.
If you decide to parent your child, we will refer you to agencies which can help you prepare for parenting.
