Helps educate the public, especially young women, health care personnel, and other social service providers, about quality adoption services especially as an alternative to abortion.

Catholic Social Service of the Diocese of Dodge City is partnering with Spaulding for Children to deliver these trainings across the state of Kansas.  The training targets health care professionals providing health services to pregnant women and teens in public or private, non-profit health centers and hospitals.  In addition, this training is being offered to nursing students and other social service providers, about quality adoption services especially as an alternative to abortion.

  • The goal of the training is to review current adoption practice, policy and law and to develop appropriate non-directive counseling tools.
  • The curriculum was developed in accordance with DHHS issued guidelines and was approved by DHHS.
  • Understanding Infant Adoption” is the name of the national unified curriculum.
  • Available are one-day, two-day, 4 hour and online workshops, as well an independent self-study.
  • All trainings are free and can be set up on location and will accommodate your staffs’ work schedules.

Philosophy Underlying the Curriculum

The Understanding Infant Adoption (UIA) curriculum is based on the belief that in the situation of an unplanned/ unintended pregnancy, women should be provided information and counseling in a nondirective, non-coercive manner in order to make an informed decision.
